但看看下面这些和neck有关的事情,你就会很留意自己的neck了;
先说我们经常会: crane one's neck to see sth. “伸长脖子看什么东西”;
而 a pain in the neck“脖子的伤痛” 则是“恶心、讨厌”
You gave me an awful pain in the neck.
I'm really up to my neck in my work today, I couldn't
get away from the office till 6:30. So I had to break
my neck to get to my sister's engagement party at 7
o'clock.
简直就是“忙得不可开交”;
而 he had to break his neck to do sth.
这里就是指“他拼命地在7点以前赶去参加“妹妹的订婚”;
The fighter planes saved our necks.
这是在说“空军的战斗机保全了我们的生命”;
pain in the neck “讨厌、恶心”
up to one's neck “忙的不可开交”
break one's neck “努力地、拼命地做事”
save one's neck “免受苦难或惩罚”
You gave me an awful pain in the neck.
I'm really up to my neck in my work today,
I couldn't get away from the office till 6:30.
So I had to break my neck to get to my sister's
engagement party at 7 o'clock.
