Claudia was discovered at age 17 by Michel Levaton of the Metropolitan agency in a Düsseldorf nightclub where she was celebrating a friend's birthday. She grew up in Rheinberg, Germany and was planning to be an attorney like her father until she took up[1] modelling.

Claudia has an autobiography called Memories and was featured in Peter Lindbergh's book 10 Women. She has released her own calendar every year since 1990 and has a series of fitness videos, Claudia Schiffer's Perfectly Fit. Claudia made a cameo appearance in the film Richie Rich and has a part in The Blackout.

Along with[2] Karen Mulder and Naomi Campbell, Claudia has a toy doll of herself which is marketed by Hasbro. She co-owns the Fashion Café restaurant chain with Naomi Campbell and Elle MacPherson.

The Grévin Museum in Paris has a wax double[3] of her. She is engaged to magician David Copperfield and has two brothers, Stefan and Andres and a sister Ann Carolin who is her best friend.
