flower1 In a classic case of supply and demand, the price of roses peaks on Valentine's Day. Women may be used to receiving flowers on birthdays and anniversaries. They may even quickly notice the presence of flowers on these occasions. But flowers given for no reason other than "I was thinking of you today" make higher impact because they are unexpected [1].

意外的。说起意外，大家脑子里恐怕都会想起点什么东西，像我们常说的意外惊喜——unexpected surprise .那么它的原形expect就肯定是预料、期待的意思！我们可以将No one expected the strikes to succeed.（没人希望罢工会取得成功。）
