The News from Milan

Fashion in the year 2000 is a far from the silver spacesuits and goggles [1] envisioned by our predecessors in the '50s and '60s. In fact, the first collection of the new millennium [2] feels a lot like, well, 1980. The discreet charm of the hip new bourgeoisie showed in sleek, slim pants, sharply cut blazers and open men's shirts. But a more playful side of the '80s was also reinterpreted-"Girls just want to have fun" was the most popular soundtrack on the runways.

1. goggle：
瞪着眼珠子看，这种看法通常和我们平时说的look 是有很大区别的。以前的电影可没有声音，所以演员的表情就成了理解剧情的关键之一，如果看到剧中有这么一幕：He goggled his eyes at her. 那十有八九是碰到什么难以理解的事情了——他瞪着她。

2. millennium：
一千年。现在各类商家都在用这个做文章，而且也给它冠上了一个相当喜庆的名字——千禧年。

3. wrap：
包裹。最常用的就是把什么东西包起来——wrap a book in paper.（用纸包书。）这个词的用法相当多，像我们平时看到小孩抱着妈妈的脖子也是可以用这个词来表达的——The little boy wrapped his arm about /aroud her mum's neck .

 
 
 

 

As for accessories [4], there's no question about it-skinny belts are back in full force, as well as spindly high-heeled sandals and an oversized sunglasses.

   

 

4. accessory：
附件或配套的东西(常用复数形式)。我们说的汽车零配件就是automobile accessories. 服装讲究整体的搭配，甚至有的服装上的饰物可以说是点睛之笔。所以我们有时会听到有人说——This belt makes a beautiful accessory to your dress.（这条皮带挺配你的套裙。）

　　2000年的服装流行时尚已经不再是简简单单的银色太空服和五、六十年代由先辈们冥思苦想出来的东西。事实上最初的千禧系列服装给人的感觉很像是八十年代的服装风格。新兴资产阶级身着的线条流畅的、臀部设计精巧的瘦腿裤，裁剪得很夸张的夹克衫以及领口敞开的男式衬衫。但80年代服饰的顽皮一面在今天又一次得到了诠释—— “女孩子只是喜欢好玩的服饰”这个主题是T型台上最时兴的主调。

   
 
 

 

　　薄绸——任何程度的绿色、橙色、紫红色、黄色或兰色的薄绸——使得性感的裹身装束，配以方巾衣领的上衣，“的厅”短裙等都再度风行。这种透明的布料层层叠加，产生一种强烈的感官效果——经常是与穿在下面的亮片、玻璃珠或是闪闪发亮的珠宝相搭配。

 

   
 
 

 

　　至于和服饰，毫无疑问——细瘦的腰带、细长的高跟凉鞋以及超大型的太阳镜又卷土重来了。
