Hamburger, Pizza and Kentucky Fried Chicken

汉堡包　　The most popular kinds of snacks are hot dogs and hamburgers. "Hot dog" is also called"frank"___short term for "frankfurter" and that is a sort of smoked sausage. "Hamburger", which is also called "burger", is a patty of broiled chopped beef. Both hot dogs and hamburgers are served on bread rolls. But in recent years, Italian Pizza and Kentucky Fried Chicken are becoming more and more the favourite varieties of fast food of the people. To go with[1] such food, you may choose some sauces and vegetables without extra charges.

　　Very often[2], you will find drugstores serving coffee, tea, other drinks and light meals, sometimes even rather square meals. Drugstores are open from early in the morning till late at night, very convenient and inexpensive.

　　Tips are generally not required at cafeterias where you serve yourselves. They are not required at snack bars or drugstore restaurants either,although most people do leave some small change under their plates.

　　Then you have bars and "cocktail lounges". Here people gather to drink and enjoy themselves. Bars and cocktail lounges are darker than what you may be accustomed to. There alcoholic drinks are served. If you prefer your drinks at room temperature, be sure to say"no ice" or"straight up[3]". Americans like most of their drinks"on the rocks[4]". In some states, people must be at least 21 years old to be allowed to enter an establishment that serves alcoholic beverages. people who are youthful in appearance should carry proof of their age when entering such establishments.

　　最流行的快餐是热狗和汉堡包。热狗也称牛肉香肠（frank）,这个frank是德语frankfurter的缩写，是一种烟熏香肠。汉堡肉包也称牛肉饼（burger），是一种烤牛肉末做的肉拼。热狗和牛肉饼都是用面包夹着吃的。但近年来意大利式烤馅饼和肯塔基炸鸡日益成为快餐中人们所喜爱的品种。在吃这种食物时，可以选用一些调味汁和蔬菜，不用另外付钱。

　　你还常常会发现一些药房在出售咖啡。药房的营业时间从清晨直到深夜，既方便又便宜。

　　在自己动手的自助餐馆里，一般无需给小费。在快餐店和药房附设的餐馆里也不必付小费，不过多大数人仍然留下一些零钱压在他们的盘子下面。

　　此外，还有酒吧间和鸡尾酒供人们喝酒和消遣。酒吧间和小酒店的光线，比你们所习惯的地方要暗些，这儿供应含酒精的饮料。如果你喜欢喝常温（不冰冻或不加冰）的饮料，必须事先讲明"不放冰"。美国人所喝的饮料中多数都喜欢放冰块。在有些州，规定至少要满二十一岁，才准进入经售含酒精饮料的酒店。有些人长相比实际岁数年轻，在进入这种地方时就必须出示证明年龄的证件。
