Venus, the goddess of love

　　Aphrodite, known to us by the name Venus, is the goddess of extreme [1] beauty. She had a mysterious birth. One day, the floating bubbles of the sea begun to glow with holy brightness, and a beautiful maiden[2] rose from the wave. She had long hair and was wearing a golden crown on her head, with the extreme grace and elegance that few women had, her beauty was beyond description
[3]. She took her place on Olympus and was appointed goddess of Love and Marriage. From then on, she began to travel far and wide [4] in a carriage drown by sparrows, doves, or swans to spread love. She caused people and other living things to fall in love and to reproduce. She encouraged free love and she herself was the executant [5] of that idea. She was not faithful to her husband Hephaestus, she was once caught on the spot by her husband to lie with another man named Mars. She was kind and responsible though. She was always ready to help young lovers who are in trouble. She loved Adonis, gave life to the statue [6]of Galatea and aided Hippomennes in his race.

爱神维娜斯
