Douglas exits CAA for WMA

DouglasAcademy Award-winning actor-producer Michael Douglas has signed for representation with the William Morris Agency, exiting Creative Artists Agency after almost 20 years. The signing at WMA comes on the heels of[1] news that ICM agent George Freeman-- who represents Douglas' bride-to-be[2] Catherine Zeta-Jones-- has exited his agency and could move to WMA (HR 1/25).

At WMA, Douglas will be repped by a team of agents led by WMA president/co-CEO Jim Wiatt and worldwide head of motion pictures Dave Wirtschafter. Douglas next stars[3] in Paramount Pictures' "The Wonder Boys" for director Curtis Hanson. As a producer, he has exec produced the boxoffice hit "Face/Off" and Francis Ford Coppola's "The Rainmaker," which starred Matt Damon. Through his Universal Pictures-based production company Further Films, Douglas is set to produce USA Films' "One Night at McCool's," in which he also has as role.

Douglas won a best actor Oscar for his role in "Wall Street" and produced best picture "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) with producer Saul Zaentz. In his 35-year career, Douglas has starred in such films as "The American President," "Basic Instinct," "Fatal Attraction," "Romancing the Stone," "The Jewel of the Nile" and "The China Syndrome," the latter three of which he also produced.

1. on the heels of：
从字面上看是“在脚跟后面”，明白了，也就是“紧紧地在……后面”的意思。更常用的一个短语是“at the heels of”，例如Famine often follows at the heels of war. 战乱之后常发生饥荒。

2. bride-to-be：
即将成为的新娘，也就是常说的“未婚妻”啦。Sb-to-be，即将成为……的人，也可以统称为“准……”。

3. stars：
在这里不是“星星”的意思，而是用做不及物动词，指“明星领衔主演、主持等”。另外，star做及物动词有“使某人成为明星”的意思，比如He starred her when she was fifeen in her first movie. 她15岁拍第一部片子的时候，他就捧红了她。

 

 

 

道格拉斯离开CAA转投WMA

获得过奥斯卡最佳男主角和最佳制片人奖的迈克尔·道格拉斯在与CAA（创造性艺术家代理协会）合作了20年之后决定离开，并已与WMA（威廉·莫里斯代理事务所）签约做其代理。此前，ICM的代理人乔治·福里曼——也就是道格拉斯的未婚妻凯瑟琳·泽坦-琼丝的代理人——刚刚离开他的代理事务所，并可能会投奔WMA（HR 1月25日消息）。
