Streisand's last Performing?

Barbra Barbra Streisand, who set a single-concert box office record on New Year's Eve, says she's performed her last concert for the masses.

"This is the last time I'm going to do any kind of concert," Streisand told TV Guide after the performance. "I don't like performing. I feel like I'm in a pageant, like I'm 18 and strutting[1] around on stage."

On top of that, she says, both the public and the media have contributed to an image she simply doesn't appreciate[2]. "They're making me into a diva, and I like to be a normal person," she says.

Regardless whether or not she takes the stage again, one thing is clear: Streisand won't need to. Streisand's fans shelled out a total of $14,694,750 to hear Babs croon 1999 away.

注释

1. strut:
(A peacock strutted on the lawn.) He strutted the streets like a gaudy fighting cock.(他在街上大摇大摆到走像是一只绚丽好斗的公鸡。)

2. appreciate:
I appreciate it a lot,对别人的帮助表示感谢。 They deeply appreciated his thoughtfullness.(他们对他的周密体贴深表感谢。)
