Brandy Explains Collapse

Brandy1What made Brandy collapse last November? The Grammy-winning singer and actress explained to Access Hollywood Thursday that those rumors about an addiction to diet pills causing her collapse on the set of the UPN sitcom[1] Moesha just aren't true.

The 20-year-old pop star told the syndicated entertainment news program that the incident was the result of chronic fatigue and dehydration[2].

She said in her first public comments since falling ill about two weeks before Thanksgiving, "Dehydration is crazy when you don't realize what you are doing and you are working all of the time."

When Access Hollywood asked her about the diet-pill rumor, Brandy answered, "I wasn't addicted to[3] anything. My family has kept me to where I need to be mentally. So to go that route and say those bad things about me, it was kind of weird, but I was true to myself and it didn't matter."

Brandy said she had been working for 18 months without a break when she became ill. "I would tell my mom I'm too tired, I don't want to go today, because I'm trying to juggle music and acting and modeling all at the same time. And I'm the type of person that if I'm not working, I'm just not cool. It's my fault for not resting and chilling[4]."

是situation comedy的简称；situation是情形、境遇的意思，comedy是喜剧，合起来是连续剧的意思。Series也常被当做连续剧来用，其表达的意思和sitcom一样。

2. Dehydration：dehydrate是动词形式，意思是使脱去水分、出去水分。Dehydration是脱水。

3.Addicted to：
addtict是使沉溺、使上瘾的意思。Addcit to是沉溺于……的意思，后边加沉溺于的东西，如：He was addicted to heroin. 他曾经沉溺于海洛因。

4.Chilling：

在Brandy在病倒后的第一次公众发言（感恩节的两个星期前）说道：“如果你不知道自己在做什么，只是不停地工作，这个时候，那你脱水已经很厉害了。”
