JESSICA SIMPSON: A Breath Of Fresh Air

Born July 10, 1980 in Dallas Texas, Jessica grew up singing gospel music in churches. At age 12 she auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club got all the way to the finals and then freaked[2]. Of course she didn't receive another call back, but that didn't stop her.

Jessica's Columbia Records debut Sweet Kisses was released recently. Only 19 years old, she remains focused not to allow a major label contract and the music industry spoil her good habits of being honest and living by good morals with a good heart. "I was determined that I be able to stay who I am if I signed to a non-Christian music label," Jessica insists, "and when I met with Tommy Mottola (Chairman and CEO, Sony Music Entertainment) he was genuinely impressed with my beliefs and was completely supportive. I remember singing for him and he told me, "You are going to change the world with the power of your heart and your music. When he said that, I knew that I had a home with Sony."

Sweet Kisses features teen pop sensation and labelmate Destiny's Child on "Whoman In Me" and heartthrob Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees on "Where You Are." "I toured with 98 Dgrees this past spring. It was my first tour ever and it was just an incredible experience! Watching 98 Degrees perform every night, I had this idea that I should record something with Nick and when this song came along it was perfect!"

Jessica also did some co-writing[3] on the album. "Heart Of Innocence," is a song she dedicates to her future husband. "I believe in one true love," says Jessica, "so I really wanted this song not to be cheesy or preachy but rather just truthful, because I do believe in commitment. The lyrics come straight from a dream I had and are so personal and real to me, because I know that innocence can be sexy and that you can be confident and at ease[4] with your sexuality and your womanliness without having sex. Jessica在此张专辑中也与别人合写了一些歌曲。Heart Of Innocence是献给她未来的丈夫的歌。“我相信有真爱，”Jessica说，“所以我很希望这首歌是诚实的而不会被别人认为是幼稚或说教性的，因为我相信许诺。歌词是直接从我做过的一个真实的梦中记录下来的，我知道纯洁其实是很性感的，你不需要性就可以自然而自信的展示出自己的性感和女人味。我相信我做到了这一点。”
