　　 Destiny's child（命运之子）这个乐队是由四个女孩组成的。还只不过是十几岁小孩的时候，首张专辑就卖出了突破性的成绩。而她们的第二张专辑就更不容忽视——热门单曲　"Bills, Bills, Bills"，　在99年的billboard 蓝调音乐排行版上连续9个星期位居榜首，这个成绩也是99年占据Billboard排行榜榜首时间最长的记录。她们给自己的第二张专辑取名　"The Writing's On The Wall"　（不祥之兆），是为了标新立异吗？她们可有自己的说法，一起来看看吧！

 

 

 

 

 


Destiny's Child ---- The Writing's On the Wall

Hailing from Houston, Texas, the group "Destiny's Child" is made up of Beyonc, LaTavia, Kelly and LaToya--four friends who have been together for several years. When they began, they built up a loyal fan base in their local city of Houston and opened for many top R&B acts that toured through the area. Then, while they were still teenagers, they had a breakthrough with their debut album.destiny's child

　　note 我们所说的冰雹就是hail，简单的举个例子来说：It's hailing.（下冰雹了。）那么文中的hail是用作动词的，那又该如何理解呢？hail可以表示“向…欢呼、致敬”，但是不要以为文中的hail就是这个意思，和介词from 连用的时候，这个词组表示的是“来自…地方”，意思是和我们平常说的"come from "差不多——She hails from California.（她来自加州）。

Their second album, "The Writing's On The Wall", features more of their R&B harmonies. Beyonc says, "We called the album 'The Writing's On The Wall' because this album really spells out what will happen in a relationship if people treat each other a certain way. It really shows what's going on."

　　note R&B：主流的广泛的黑人音乐蓝调音乐，是Rhythm and Blues的缩写。在 1970 年左右， Billboard 曾界定过R&B为——除了Jazz和Blues之外，所有黑人音乐都是R&B。
 

Destiny's Child's latest album, The Writing's On The Wall, has been certified double-platinum and has produced three hits to-date: the new "Say My Name"; "Bug A Boo"; and the album's first single, "Bills, Bills, Bills," which spent nine week at #1 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart (the longest at the #1 position in 1999) and hit the #1 spot on the Hot 100 Singles chart.

　　note Hit可以指“大获成功的表演、专辑、作品等”。来看看这个句子：That song was a hit last year. （那首歌是去年风行一时的歌曲）。

In the summer of 1999, "Bills, Bills, Bills"was the #1 song on R&B radio for five weeks in a row. Destiny's Child burst into the music scene in 1997 with their multi-platinum #1 single, "No, No, No"from their self-titled debut album.

　　note　现在我们来学学有关burst的一些用法：高兴的时候我们常说的一句话就是“我高兴得不得了”，其实也就是——I am bursting with joy. 另外我们还可以用这个词表达“突然大笑、突然大哭”——burst into laughter. /burst into tears.
