Maradona Told He Owes Italy £16.7 Million 马拉多纳逃税两千万美元 Diego Maradona has been notified by Italian tax police that
he owes Italy £16.7 million because of evaded taxes and interests. Maradona had just set foot at Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci airport when he was escorted by tax inspectors to their office and given papers to sign. The bill amounts to 52 billion lire. The Argentine came to Italy to appear on television shows and unveil a limited-edition coin engraved with his image. He left the airport after signing the papers. Maradona led Argentina to a world title in 1986 and the Italian soccer club Napoli to its only two Serie A titles, in 1987 and 1990. He was kicked out of the league in 1991 after testing positive for cocaine. He was in Rome last month to receive the FIFA internet award for player of the century. Recently, he has been negotiating his return to Napoli as a manager. |
