to late-1980s, none filter Pro basketball was just getting its multicultural, ultra-hip, mega-marketing, "We Are the World" legs upon their arrivals in the mid-1980s. David Stern's hair was still jet-black, and the sports world was just beginning to see the boy genius' plan come together. It was a plot that would bolt the NBA from a sport on the cult-like fringes, into an American institution, and its players from minstrel performers into cultural icons. |
