Comic book film X-men has stormed to the top of the US box office charts, taking an enormous $57.5m in a record-breaking opening weekend.
　　The movie was the second-highest grossing debut this year after Mission: Impossible 2, which pulled in $57.8m.
　　It also had the best-ever opening showing for a non-sequel, the best debut for July and the fourth-highest opening of all time.
　　Only The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Mission: Impossible 2 have done better on their first weekend of release.
