　　Voters in 16 American states choose their candidates for the presidential race on Tuesday, with front-runners George W Bush and Al Gore seeking knock-out blows against their party rivals.
　　Opinion polls put Vice-President Al Gore well ahead of his rival Bill Bradley in the contest for the Democratic Party nomination.
　　The outcome of the Republican Party race between Texas Governor George W Bush and Arizona Senator John McCain is less certain, though Mr Bush remains a clear favourite.
