The United States may send Elian Gonzalez back to Cuba if his Miami relatives do not sign an agreement promising to return him home should their federal court appeal to keep him fail.
　　 Elian's relatives have so far refused to sign the undertaking. The six-year-old boy has been at the centre of an international custody battle since late last year.
　　 Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) officials met lawyers for the Miami relatives and informed them that Elian's temporary permission to be in the US would end at 9 am local time on Thursday - unless the family agrees to abide by the court's ruling.

美国对埃利安失去耐心
