　　The United States has confirmed the Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright , will meet the North Korean Foreign Minister, Paek Nam-Sun, in Bangkok later this week.
　　The meeting, scheduled for Friday, will be the highest-level contact ever between the two countries.
　　The North Korean minister is, also for the first time, taking part in a series of meetings in Bangkok with ministers of the Asean group of countries.
　　In another sign of the thaw in its diplomatic isolation, North Korea was recognised by Canada on Wednesday.
