US President Bill Clinton has signed into law an historic bill normalising
trade relations with China which is expected to translate into billions
of dollars in new sales for the United States.
The Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) bill guarantees
Chinese goods the same low-tariff access to the US market
as products from most other nations.
President Clinton has sent US Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky
to Beijing Tuesday night to discuss with Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji
the final steps China must take to join the World Trade Organisation.
中美贸易的新时代
美国总统克林顿10日下午将对华永久正常贸易关系议案(PNTR)正式签署为美国法律,使美中贸易进入了一个新的历史阶段,据估计这项法案的成功签署能为美国带来数十亿美元的贸易额。
PNTR法案保证中国出口商品能够享有与其它国家同样低的关税税率。
