Protests against US bases in Japan are not uncommon
对美军基地的抗议活动在日本并非罕见
The US military said it would impose a midnight curfew
and drinking ban on marines
on the Japanese island of Okinawa after a serviceman was charged with
sexually molesting a 14-year-old girl in her bedroom.
But the restrictions have prompted criticism as they will only apply
for a few days before and during the summit of the Group of Eight (G8)
countries, which is being held on the island in a fortnight's
time.
On Friday, the chief aide of Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori flew
to Okinawa to soothe mounting local anger, while the top
US military official on the island made an unprecedented
apology on Thursday.
