　　A Beijing court has sentenced the lover of a top lawmaker to life imprisonment for helping him take $5m in bribes.
　　Li Ping was also found guilty of smuggling though details of the charge were not given.
　　The former governor of Guangxi region, Cheng Kejie, who was also vice-chairman of the standing committee of the National People's Congress, was sentenced to death in July.
　　Cheng has appealed but if the sentence is carried out, he will be the most senior official to be executed for bribery since the Communist Party came to power in 1949.

成克杰情妇被判无期徒刑

　　北京一法庭判处一人大高级官员的情妇无期徒刑，因她帮助他受贿500万美元。

　　李平还被发现犯有走私罪，虽然对她提出的控告的详情没有透漏。

　　原广西壮族自治区主席、人大常委会副委员长成克杰7月份被判处死刑。

　　成已上诉，但如果维持原判，他将是自共产党1949年执政以来被处死的最高官员。
